FAQ's

Has my favorite Barbara’s product been discontinued?

At times, we do remove and add products to our brand portfolio. Please check here for a listing of our current offerings.

What is your allergen labeling policy?

We understand and share the concerns expressed by consumers who are affected by food allergies. Food- allergic consumers should rely on our package ingredient labels for the most accurate information on a product. If a product contains any of the FDA major eight allergens (eggs, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy or wheat), it will be clearly listed in bold print in the ingredient declaration on the Nutrition Facts Panel.

Which products are suitable for me if I'm on a special or restricted diet?

Barbara’s offers products that meet special or restricted dietary needs. Please review the ingredients and nutritional information listed on the package to confirm the product meets your restrictions. You can learn more about our products here.

Why did the nutrition label format change?

The FDA announced new regulations for Nutrition Labeling in May 2016. These regulations require a new Nutrition Facts Panel format and content on every product labeled for sale in the U.S. Changes to the panel reflect new scientific information and are intended to make labels easier to read and understand. All food products produced on or after January 1, 2020 must comply with the new format.

The changes you will see on the new Nutrition Facts format include:

  • Serving sizes are increasing on most items. This will cause nutrient values for calories, fat, sodium and sugars to increase as well, even though we have not changed the product formula.
  • Labels must declare Added Sugars (sugars added to a product during the production process)
  • Labels must declare potassium
  • Labels must declare vitamin D
  • Labels may no longer declare Calories from Fat
  • Daily Values for many nutrients have been updated based on new scientific evidence. This will cause the % Daily Values to change. In addition, serving size changes will affect the amount of a nutrient in a serving.
  • The column for “with milk added” has been removed from some of our packages due to space issues because of the new format requirements.

What does it mean for a product to be Non-GMO Project Verified?

The Project Standard requires products to not be made with ingredients derived from crops grown with genetically engineered seed. This standard also requires high-risk crops to be tested regularly to verify that the level of GMOs is below 0.9% for human food.
