Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange Recognizes Wholesome Foods Manufacturer for Educational Mobile App
Marlborough, Mass. (June 9, 2014) – Barbara’s, known for making delicious cereals and snacks from simple, wholesome ingredients, was selected as a finalist at the 2014 MITX What’s Next Awards in the “Best Use of Mobile” category for its innovative Snackimals Dash mobile application. This kid-friendly app, designed for ages three to nine, brings the user on a mission with the Barbara’s Snackimals Monkey to find healthy snacks throughout the rainforest, while avoiding unhealthy foods and jungle obstacles.
“We’re honored to be recognized as a finalist at these prestigious digital awards,” said Lizzie Bell, senior associate brand manager at Barbara’s. “Our interactive Snackimals Dash app is a great way for moms to keep kids occupied during grocery trips, while teaching them how to snack smart. It also educates children on how to be eco-conscious, which is something Barbara’s is passionate about and supports through our many partnerships with programs like World Wildlife Fund, National Wildlife Federation and GreenChoice recyclable, carbon-neutral packaging.”
Launched in July 2013, in conjunction with Genuine Interactive, Snackimals Dash is a colorful and interactive game that uses motion technology to challenge the user to navigate through the jungle with the Barbara’s Snackimals Monkey, finding healthy snacks and collecting points while avoiding unhealthy snacks and traps that cause strikes. The user can also collect Snackimals Friends and recycle for bonus points. Once the user has three strikes they are wiped out, teaching the user about the benefits of healthy snacks and the dangers of unhealthy foods.
Held by the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX), the MITX What’s Next Awards celebrate Boston’s digital innovations in three categories: Imagination, Industry and Innovation. MITX is the leading Internet business and marketing group in New England, dedicated to creating opportunities for businesses and individuals to explore new trends, network, cultivate new leaders and advance the digital industry.
